Ignorance is bliss

This week in class we talked about what would we do if someone made a racist comment in class, the essay writer thought it was the best idea to just ignore it, I mean that makes sense right? I know every time I ignore a problem, like homework… it all works out! I mean it does itself right? O wait… I FAIL THE CLASS! I mean seriously people ignoring the problem, “Hey bud the bridge is out up ahead, o don’t worry about it if we ignore it, it the problem will solve itself.” Gravestone reads, “Ignorant to the end” a hilarious end no doubt! Just like Cancer, Oil, and Alarm clocks they don’t stop until we do something.

  1. Totally agree with you on the subject of letting things sort themselves out. I have noticed that sometimes things do work out without intervention, but this is the exception and not the norm. To me it seems that simply ignoring racist speech may send the message that it's almost ok. If we don't do something about it the person who said racist remark will never understand why what they said was offensive.

  2. Um hey, I was just wondering... your blog is called the bartowski and you have that 'how much wood could a...' quote thingy. Are you hinting at Chuck Bartowski? Like from the tv show? I love that show, but if that wasn't it then please lie about it. Otherwise I'll feel entirely stupid for actually leaving this post after feeling like some clever dog at making the connection. If I'm right though... well, then please commend me of my awesomeness. :)

  3. uh chuck?... theres a show? im so confused... lol im kidding! YES! Chuck is the best show ever! i thought about putting up a picture of chuck with the finger gun pose but i figured it would be too confusing people would look at the pic and be like, "he's not in our class!" or ya'know some girl in the class would fall in love with the pic and when they found out it was me instead i would have to assume the Morgan maneuver to avoid serious injury! so yes, Awesomeness commended! you are now free to move about the country... of BUYMORIA! ok im done i swear XD

  4. Kristen,
I'm so glad you asked about the title of this blog because I was wondering the same thing!

  5. I have to agree. Ignoring a problem, issue, or bad behavior will get us on where. It only reinforces that such issues or behaviors are acceptable. This is exactly why we train children and house pets. As many of our classmates have already stated, the best way to handle comments that are bordering verbal abuse is to take them head on and teach tolerance.
