Week 1... sorta

This week in the riveting English 5 class we had a serious in class discussion about the virtues and convictions of the ever controversial subject of pornography, hang on… let me cover some bases real quick, if you are not a fan of sarcasm and terrible humor skip this blog, hit up the next one, this blog is not for you, But for all of those easy going light hearted people who can take a joke and keep on ticking please read on! Enjoy! Now… let’s continue.
I’m not a fan of politics or pornography so this discussion is basically so far from my interests it was painful. When I think of politics all I can think of is a head ache with tons of opinionated people all yelling at each other trying to decide what topic they are going to argue about. And porn, well… it has its uses but as far as I’m concerned it’s a bastardization of a sacred and precious act between to people who are madly in love and have eyes only for them, the degradation of such a concept as making love and turning it into something most people do with whoever strikes their fancy and future be damned, you will be waking up to someone new soon anyways. Our in class discussion did reveal a few interesting concepts, the most interesting was the fact that almost everyone at the table accepted porn as a fact of life something that we have an ice cube’s chance in hell of ever changing, and we also accepted that the only real protecting that needs to be done is for our children, and in that aspect it’s the responsibility of the parents, not the government, to keep our kids free from such garbage till they can make their own decision about such things. Sorry this post wasn’t on the sarcastic side but I suck at political jokes because I just don’t care… and sex jokes seemed a little harsh, maybe next time!... the jokes, not the sex…

  1. I too like to joke and be sarcastic, so I guess this blog is for me. I liked the "Ice cube's chance in hell," euphemism you used by the way.

Anyway, I too think that Pornography takes something which used to be considered special, and defaces it in order to generate revenue. It saddens me to think that people accept it as a part of society. I believe that the real problem is complacency. Pornography does not have to be part of our culture, but it seems that not enough people care to change it. What's worse is the fact that it's making more and more money. The industry is growing and at this point, even if someone did decide to sue the industry; the industry has enough money to handle most any settlement. Lame.

  2. First off, well written. The light heartedness of this blog really took weight off the shoulders of the topic. It’s a good read and there are a lot of good solid points in it (no pun intended). As readily available as porn is I am almost more concerned about the mainstream media than I am its red-light counterpart. The amount of borderline content that is posted on billboards and the sides of busses causes a gateway interest in finding out what’s really under that “how to wash” size label, article of clothing

  3. This is definitely one of the more entertaining blogs that I've read. I too am completely bored by politics; however, I am realizing that understanding current events requires a certain degree of political knowledge. Anyway, this blog is very well-written and funny throughout. Classic ending ... the jokes, not the sex ...

  4. i enjoyed reading this. i agree that when people start talking politics, i have a headache on the way. however, i have really felt that in our class we have been able to discuss these issues much better than any politicians i've ever listened to, and we dove right into them. From the very first week, we have talked about some of the most difficult issues our society faces and i have already learned so much.
